Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions (Terms) are entered into between The Shimmy Shake Burlesque School and staff (we, us or our) and you. We provide burlesque and other classes at our burlesque studios (Services). In these Terms, you or Student means the person or entity who is registered, or will register, for our Services.

Acceptance

You accept these Terms by making payment of any part of the fees for the Services you have selected, or enrolling in a class.

The Shimmy Shake School of Burlesque only accepts students aged 18+.

Cancellations

• Drop In – If you must cancel a class please let us know as soon as possible. Cancellations up until 24 hours before class will not be charged. Later than that and your pass will still be stamped.
• Workshop Cancellation – Up to 24 hours before you will be offered a full credit or refund. Less than 24 hours no refunds are possible.
• Bachelorette Bookings – Deposits are non-refundable. Cancellations more than 24 hours before will be offered a full credit which can be applied to any of our classes.
• Classes & Workshops canceled by Shimmy Shake – You will be offered a full credit or refund.

In Class

• Please aim to arrive at class at least five minutes before class starts. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after class starts and you have not notified us you will not be allowed to participate in class.
• Please do not enter the studio while another class is in progress.
• Please turn phones off, on silent or put on airplane mode.
• We want everyone to feel welcome in class, so please respect everyone’s personal space and try not to speak over anyone, especially your teacher.
• Dance shoes only in the studio! We must protect the floors so no street shoes inside the studio.
• If you need to use the bathroom or have some water during class, feel free to do so.
• Classes are taught in English & German, if you need any help understanding do not hesitate to inform your teacher.
• We accept no responsibility for your personal items, and exclude all Liability for any personal items that are misplaced, lost or stolen so please take care of your belongings & ensure you have everything with you when leaving.

Health and Safety

• If you have any special requirements due to injury or mobility please inform your teacher at the beginning of the class. You will be accommodated.
• Shimmy Shake is not liable for injuries that occur during classes, by signing up for class you take responsibility for your own health and safety.
• Shimmy Shake instructors are not doctors, therapists, or healthcare providers. We aim to provide a fun and safe environment to feel good about yourself. Always consult with a medical professional regarding health issues.

In Studio

• Both our studios have bathrooms and changing areas.
• In our Berlin studio, once you enter please remove your street shoes on the carpet before entering the changing room, bathroom, or studio.
• While changing and preparing please be aware that other classes might be taking

place in other studio rooms so try to keep chatter to a minimum.

• Please try to be as clean and respectful as possible to the studio, we would appreciate you taking any rubbish, feathers, crystals etc. of yours with you on your way out.

Copyright and Media

• Any choreography taught in classes remains the exclusive property of the Shimmy Shake School and the relevant instructor/s and may not be replicated or performed in full or part outside of authorized Shimmy Shake School activities without written permission.
• Photos & Videos are welcome to be taken if there’s time before or after class, with express permission of all present if they are to be shared online.
• By performing at the Shimmy Shake Show or Shimmy Shake events permission is given to be photographed and videod, and for these photos and videos to be used for the school’s commercial purposes
• Instructors may provide rehearsal videos filmed in class as a learning aide. These videos are not to be posted online and are for private rehearsal only, unless stated by the instructor. These videos are not part of the course content and may not be provided by all instructors for all classes.
• By signing up for classes you will be registered for the Shimmy Shake School’s newsletter. You can opt out at any time.

Code of Conduct Policy

• We aim to create a space where everyone feels as safe as possible! Burlesque can make us vulnerable and being sensitive to people and their bodies is very important to us.

• We do not tolerate any body shaming, hate speech, transphobia, homophobia, racism, antisemitism, or bigotry of any kind.
• We do not tolerate acts or performances that incorporate cultural appropriation.
• Everyone, regardless of age (18+), race, gender, or body type is welcome so long as they are respectful of others. If there is an incident violating our code of conduct please report it to us immediately, you can also report it anonymously to our email.
